Live At the Apollo Tracklist:
I mistakenly thought, when this LP appeared after Live Aid, that it was a cash-in on their Live Aid set with Kendrick and Ruffin. This concert actually came first, and they knew they had something great. It’s proof that when artists perform what they like, and do what they want (maybe just the right amount of self-indulgence) there’s a good chance they’ll deliver something honest and real. This performance is authentic and electric, and listening to it now, outside of the tidal wave of Live Aid publicity, one can hear why they repeated it for Live Aid. It’s excellent.
Saw them in Honolulu at the Waikiki Shell on their way to tour Japan back in the 80's. It was a magic night.....after listening to this - I guess that is just what H&O do. Tight melodious pop with soul - and its LIVE. Whew! Thanks H&O.
