PRISM (Deluxe Version) Tracklist:
If I could give it 2.5 stars I would. This album has some gems like Dark Horse, Unconditionally, Walking On Air. The first half is the best and the most interesting and then the second half lacks personality as it is really quite boring. Better then Smile and Witness though!
This is a very 80s sounding album...which is a good thing. Sounds very pop/new wave 80s and Katy does it very well. Roar is the weakest song on the album along with Dark Horse. She definitely could’ve chosen better singles to put out from this album that’s forsure.
My mom likes the upbeat and empowering song, “Roar,” which brought me to this album, which I bought in 2014 from Walmart. This album has 90’s-inspiration, from Empire Records to Clueless to The Craft. I know The Craft is not a good movie despite her making a song inspired by that 1996 slasher movie. Some of these songs can also have inspirations from the 1930’s, 1940’s, 1950’s, etc. Saturday Evening Puss, a Tom and Jerry episode from 1950, brought me to “Birthday” by Katy Perry. Classic Looney Tunes shorts brought me to “Dark Horse” by Katy Perry. This was one of my favorite jams of when I was a high school senior in East Anchorage High School.
