21 Guns (feat. Green Day & the Cast of American Idiot) [Live at the Grammy's] - Single Tracklist:
Let me say first off, Green Day is just amazing. So i thought that this song would be just as good as the normal 21 guns. I WAS WRONG!!!!! The cast makes this song so much better. It gives it a better beat and a flat out better feel. I rather listen to this anyday then the normal 21 guns.
THIS IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS! GREEN DAY IS A PUNK ROCK BAND AND NOW THEY ARE SELLING THEMSELVES OUT FOR A MUSICIAL!!! THAT IS GOING TO BE THE WORST MUSICAL IN THE HISTORY OF MUSICALS. THIS IS THE MOST PATHETIC THING I HAVE EVER HEARD OF. IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THIS, AND/OR SUPPORT THIS IS ANY WAY THEN YOU ARE A POSER, AND THE WORST KIND OF GREEN DAY FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Back when 21st Century Breakdown first came out, and Know Your Enemy was the single, I heard this song and thought that it was a cool mellow jam that I could rellax to. Unfortunately, like all rock ballads it became over exposed like a piece of film to light and somehow morphed into this garbage. When the exposure dies down I'll listen to the real version of this, but this version will never be good.
This version is absolutely beautiful! I cannot stop listening to it. Green Day is my favorite band and "American Idiot" was an extremely awesome album. I'm so excited that there is going to be a broadway musical based on it. :)
Really liked this performance. At first I was iffy about how the cast would sound and things like that. I just really don't enjoy the fact that Billie Joe doesn't have a very big part in this newer version. I understand that it's for the musical, but at least for a Grammy performance they can include Green Day themselves a bit more. But whatever, my parents and I actually enjoyed it :)
I love Green Day, but this song shouldn't be so showbiz-fied, if you know what I mean. The opening is beautiful because it's UNDERPLAYED! Modulations don't work for this song! It loses sincerity when you cliche' it! The version on 21st Century Breakdown is perfect. This one is sadly a fail. Mike Dirnt looked really mad when the cast did this at the Grammies and the female singer came over and leaned on him. I'm on Mike's side here. Tre' looked depressed, too. (which is rare).
At first, I personally didn't like Green Day's version of 21 guns. I found it repetitive and frankly, overrated. When i heard the cast of american idiot sing it with green day i felt more emotion and depth within the song. I think people need to stop thinking that "glee" style musicals are the only musicals that can be made. Spring Awakening, i feel, defiantly brought modern sound and issues onto broadway. The fact that the director of Spring Awakening is doing American Idiot gives me great confidence that Green Day's music and lyrics will be portrayed perfectly on stage. Stop hating on Green Day's musical Green Day "Fans". They were the ones who wanted it to be made.
i have to admit the cast of american idiot was pretty good. i am a huge fan of green day when they perform. they always put on a good show, always rocking, never boring. i think american idiot willl be a good musical too. those peole sure do have talent.
The cast of AI did a great job during their Grammy performance! I was impressed by how much the song sounded like the recorded one (with the exception of BJ). So I guess I mean that they are truly talented at singing. The Broadway Musical reflects the "rock opera" American Idiot and I hope to see it. Everybody did a great job at the Grammys and it was a great way to get everybody aware of such a musical. Great job Green Day! Great job all you AIs!
Let me first say that, while I have only been listening to Green Day for about a year and 9 months, I am a huge fan. I have all of their studio albums, plus International Superhits!, Shenanigans, and Bullet in a Bible. 21st Century Breakdown is honestly my favorite album that I have ever heard at this point. 21 Guns is one of my favorite songs. So, of course I was excited to see Green Day nominated for 3 Grammy awards this year. I was even more excited when I heard they would be performing. This is a great live performance, and not just any, it has the cast of the musical "American Idiot", which will be on Broadway starting April 20 (With a preview in March).
